Suspect Arrested in Fatal Beer Bottle Fight in Ramona

A man accused of fatally wounding his victim with a broken beer bottle at a gas store in Ramona was arrested, announced deputies Friday.

Jarrett Wishnick, 26, faces one count of murder for allegedly killing Steven Faught, 59, in the store Thursday, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department (SDSO).

Both Wishnick and Faught resided in Ramona, said deputies. Wishnick was taken into custody that same evening and booked into the Sheriff's Vista Detention Facility.

Deputies were called to an assault with a deadly weapon at the Stage Stop Liquor store on Main Street, just before 6 p.m. on Nov. 2.

The owner said he doesn't know what led to the fight that broke out by the gas pump.

"I know they were fighting at the pump," said Amad Gorial adding that the men were considered regular customers of the store.

Emergency medical crews took Faught to a nearby hospital by helicopter, and he later died.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner's Officer will determine the cause of death.

The store reopened Friday morning. No surveillance cameras were recording video outside the store. The store has cameras inside, the owner said.

Homicide investigators said there were not a lot of witnesses. If anyone saw the crime, they can report it to the Sheriff's Department.
