A driver fled from the scene of an accident Sunday night, only to crash into another driver in North Park, San Diego Police say.
The incident started when a 42-year-old man driving a Ford Escape hit two parked cars in a liquor store parking lot before 11:40 p.m., according to police.
The man took off, but just four blocks away, he ran a red light and struck a moving black Saab in the intersection of Park Boulevard and University Avenue.
Both vehicles had significant damage. One passenger-side door had to be cut off by firefighters to get a person out.
The man in the car suffered a neck fracture, and his passenger had non-life threatening injuries. Both were taken to a nearby hospital.
The driver and passenger inside the Ford were also hospitalized for minor injuries.
San Diego police say they're awaiting toxicology reports and may proceed with charges.
The SDPD's Traffic Division will continue investigating this crash.
