North County Political Icon Dies

A longtime public servant who was the mayor of Carlsbad and a state Assemblyman has passed away, according to a published report.

Robert "Bob" Frazee was 80 year old when he died, the North County Times reported.

The paper reported that Frazee began his political career in 1972 as a member of the Carlsbad City Council, then moved on to the mayor's office in 1974. Four years later, he migrated to the state Assembly as the 74th District's representative, where he remained through 1994.

"Next time you walk on the Carlsbad sea wall, think of Bob Frazee," said Richard Ledford, who was at one time Frazee's chief of staff.

Frazee and his wife, Dolores Hedrick, had two children, Susan and Nancy.
