A new two-mile trail will be unveiled at the El Monte County Park in Lakeside on Tuesday.
The trail will connect the East County communities of Blossom Valley and El Monte Valley and runs along the San Diego River Valley. The trail will be open to hikers, bicyclists, and horseback riders.
The new path will give visitors an amazing view of the face of El Capitan Mountain. The 88-acre park is surrounded by mountains and includes playgrounds and picnic areas.
The improvements were funded with a 375-thousand dollar state grant through Proposition 40, a 2002 measure supporting clean air and water and neighborhood parks.
