This year’s yearbook at San Pasqual High School is anything but picture perfect.
The whole point of a yearbook might be to write messages like “have a great summer”, “don’t ever change” and (my personal favorite), “I wish I had gotten to know you better” – but if you don’t have a picture to scrawl your messages next to, what is a senior to do?
Out of 500 seniors at San Pasqual High School, 170 of them do not have a photo in this year’s yearbook as they close the page on this chapter in their lives. The reason – a policy change.
"A lot of people got them," senior Rosstin Cook told the North County Times about the yearbooks. "But a lot of people were disappointed."
Last year's book only listed only eight seniors without photos, the paper reported. The difference is that last year the yearbook ran senior identification photos in their place. This year, the policy changed – if you didn’t take a senior picture, tough luck.
"As far as the artistic part of the publication, I can't mix those pictures with the senior portraits," yearbook adviser Carol Leap said about why the photos were separated.
Leap told the paper that the school tried to accelerate the students to take pictures, but it didn’t happen. She is already preparing notices to send to students reminding them to take their senior portraits during this summer.
