NASCAR Champ to Visit Santee

Crest native Jimmie Johnson, fresh off his record-breaking NASCAR championship win Sunday, is planning a homecoming next week.

Johnson, who has now driven to a record four straight NASCAR points titles, is making a publicity tour all around the country.

The NASCAR driver, who mostly grew up in El Cajon,  was set to visit Jay Leno Wednesday night, following a night in his new hometown of New York City Tuesday.

As part of the festivities, Johnson flipped the switch to turn on the lights of the Empire State Building, which were lit in blue, white and yellow, the colors of the No. 48 Lowes Chevy.

Johnson's victory tour wont be complete without a visit to San Diego County, where Johnson was born.

Fans can see him in person at the Lowe’s in Santee from 7-10 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 30.

The event is open to the public and doesn’t require any RSVP, according to Johnson’s Facebook page.

Lowe’s is at 9416 Mission Gorge Road and can be reached at 619-212-4100.
