Myers Will Represent San Diego In Home Run Derby

The All-Star First Baseman Will Compete in Monday’s Showcase

Wil Myers will be one busy man during All-Star week.

The Padres All-Star first baseman agreed to be one of eight participants in the upcoming Home Run Derby which will take place Monday night at Petco Park.

Last year’s home run derby champion Todd Frazier and 2011 winner Robinson Cano will also showcase their skills.

The other five hitters who will step to the plate are Reds outfielder Adam Duvall, Rockies slugger Carlos Gonzalez, Dodgers rookie shortstop Corey Seager, Marlins star Giancarlo Stanton and Baltimore’s Mark Trumbo – who leads the majors with 26 jacks as of Thursday afternoon.

Myers was named as a National League reserve for the Midsummer Classic earlier this week.

The 25-year-old will be the lone representative for the Padres as they host All-Star game festivities for the third time in San Diego.

The Home Run Derby begins Monday evening at 5 p.m.
