Motorist Puts in Drive-Thru at Carl's Jr.

A driver took "takeout" to a new level at a Mira Mesa fast-food joint on Thursday.

The incident occurred at about 9 a.m. at the eatery near the intersection of Camino Ruiz and Mira Mesa Boulevard. A 37-year-old woman was entering the intersection when, she said, she was cut off by the driver of a minivan. The woman said she hit the gas instead of the brake, accelerated through the intersection and crashed into the building. Her silver sedan went all the way into the building, coming to rest against a booth inside the restaurant.

The woman's airbag deployed, and she wasn't hurt in the crash, nor was anyone else. She was not charged by the police, nor was the minivan's driver.

Fire officials said it was remarkable that nobody was hurt in the wreck.
