Motorcycle Under Car Bursts Into Flames

The crash slowed traffic on northbound Interstate 5 near the Coronado Bridge

A crash involving a motorcycle and car caused both vehicles to burst into flames Monday.

Just after 9 a.m., the California Highway Patrol responded to an accident on Interstate 5 in Logan Heights, near the Coronado Bridge. A motorcyclist was hit and knocked off his bike by a driver in a Chevy Camero.

San Diego Fire officials say the motorcycle caught fire after being dragged underneath the car for about 200 yards.

Both vehicles were soon engulfed in flames, but firefighters quickly got the fire under control.

The motorcyclist was taken to UC San Diego Medical Center with significant but non-life threatening injuries.
