Evening Power Outage Caps Hot Day in Santee

Customers lost power around 6:30 p.m.

An estimated 2,220 customers were left without power in the Santee and Lakeside areas Tuesday at around 6:40 p.m.

San Diego Gas &Electric (SDG&E) crews are at the scene assessing the cause.

By around 9:30 p.m., SDG&E said only about 400 customers were still without power. the utility expected full power restoration by around 11:30 p.m.

Santee is under the countywide Excessive Heat Warning in effect until Thursday. Santee’s high Tuesday was 98 degrees and temperatures were still in the low 80s by the evening – a concern for homeowners suddenly without air-conditioning or even fan.
