One day after she resigned unexpectedly, the mayor of Solana Beach told NBC 7 she made the decision because she and her husband are moving out of the area this summer.
Mayor Ginger Marshall resigned Thursday from the Solana Beach City Council, effective immediately. Marshall offered no explanation for her decision in her two-sentence memo to the city manager. See the resignation letter here.
She is the second person to leave the council on short notice.
Last month Councilman Mike Nichols resigned at a council meeting.
When NBC 7 reached out to Marshall, she told us she and her husband are moving out of the state of California. She did not disclose where they are moving.
“I want to spend the remainder of my time here with friends and family and want to enjoy their company,” she said.
Marshall mentioned that city business and city council meetings would not allow for that.
“I have been honored to serve my constituents,” she added.
The Coast News Group reported Friday that Marshall told them she wanted to leave "on a good note, not a sour note."
