Marines Probe Woman's Death in Iraq

Death is under investigation

CANTON, Ohio -- A Camp Pendleton-based Marine was killed in a noncombat incident in Iraq, according to Pentagon officials.

The Department of Defense said Lance Cpl. Stacy Dryden, 22, of North Canton, Ohio, was killed Sunday in an incident in Anbar province west of Baghdad. The Pentagon gave no details but said her death is under investigation.

Dryden was a cheerleader who also sang in the choir at GlenOak-Perry High School, the North County Times reported. She graduated in 2004. Dryden joined the Marines last year, a Marine corps spokesman told the paper.

Dryden was assigned to the 1st Supply Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group.
