Teen Shot and Killed in Chollas Creek Identified

The victim was found lying in a roadway near Shiloh Road and Ogden Street, with a lit cigarette next to his body

A teenager was shot and killed in San Diego’s Chollas Creek area Wednesday night has been identified.

San Diego police said the shooting was reported near Shiloh Road and Ogden Street just after 10:30 p.m. A witness found the wounded teen, identified as 16-year-old Damien Anthony Feliz, in a north alley off Ogden Street and called 911.

When officers arrived, paramedics with the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department were already at the scene. They found Feliz lying in a roadway, with a lit cigarette next to his body. He was critically wounded.

SDPD Lt. Martha Sainz said the teen had suffered at least one gunshot wound.

Medics gave him CPR and he was taken to a hospital. However, by 11 p.m., officials confirmed Feliz had died.

Sainz said witnesses told police they had heard gunshots in the neighborhood earlier in the evening. A light-colored sedan was spotted in the area at around the same time the gunfire was heard.

No one was arrested immediately following the shooting and police are still searching for a suspect or suspects in this case.

The SDPD said the victim has not yet been identified.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information can reach out to the police department's homicide unit at (619) 531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
