Officers are searching for a suspect who threatened the passenger in his own car before firing a round from a handgun Thursday night, the Chula Vista Police Department (CVPD) confirmed.
The incident happened at approximately 9:15 p.m. on Otay Lakes Road and Telegraph Canyon Road.
CVPD says the suspect had been driving with a friend in his car when he stopped and told his friend to get out. When the friend questioned why, the suspect pulled out a gun and fired a round at the ground.
The victim got out of the car and the suspect drove off.
Police say the suspect is believed to have been under the influence of alcohol while driving. At this point, he is still outstanding.
No other information was immediately available.
