Man Runs Harley Davidson Through Red Light, Leading to His Death: SDPD

A motorcyclist who drove his Harley Davidson through a red light hit the back of a truck, sustaining serious injuries and later dying, San Diego Police (SDPD) said. 

The 55-year-old man, who has not yet been identified, was riding his 2006 motorcycle north on the 400 block of Moreno Boulevard, approaching the intersection with Avati Drive, at 9:06 a.m. Saturday, SDPD Officer Frank Cali said. 

At the same time, a 61-year-old man driving a 2004 Chevy truck was stopped at a red light in San Diego's Bay Ho neighborhood, SDPD said. He was facing west on the 400 block of Avati Drive when the signal turned green and he began to make a left turn through the intersection. 

The motorcyclist drove through a red light, hitting the back of the truck, Cali said. 

He suffered serious injuries, SDPD said. The motorcyclist was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.  

SDPD's Traffic Division is investigating the crash.
