Man Killed, Woman Injured on I-15 Crash near Carmel Mtn. Rd.

A man was killed early this morning on rain slicked roads in Carmel Mountain Ranch.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a woman driving a red minivan was headed south on Interstate-15 around 12:30 a.m. Monday, when she drifted to the left and collided into the divide separating the carpool lane and the other lanes.

The minivan was blocking the #1 lane when a man driving a black sedan crashed into her at full speed.

He died at the crash site.

Firefighters rescued the woman, who was trapped in the minivan.

Paramedics took her to the hospital, where she is being treated for major injuries.

Traffic is being diverted to the carpool lanes while officers investigate.

CHP said slick roads because of the rain may have contributed to the crash.
