A man who police say held his 1-year-old daughter over the edge of an apartment balcony, threatening to drop the child, was arrested after struggling with officers near San Diego.
Officials in National City say the girl's mother called police Wednesday night to report that the man was acting erratically.
Lt. Christopher Sullivan says when the man held the girl over the balcony and threatened to drop her, officers positioned themselves to catch the child in case the man followed through.
The San Diego Union-Tribune newspaper reports police eventually convinced the man to go back inside, where officers rushed in and arrested him. Nobody was hurt during a brief scuffle.
The suspect, who was not named, could face charges including child endangerment.
