Man Wanted in Murder of City Heights Woman Arrested in Las Vegas

Dominique Grady is being held in Nevada, pending extradition

A man wanted for the murder of a woman in City Heights last month was arrested in Las Vegas Monday.

Dominique Grady, 26, faces murder charges in the shooting death of 21-year-old Jossie Marilyn Ruiz Lopez at her apartment in the 3600 block of 45th Street.

The San Diego Police Department (SDPD) has been searching for Grady since he was identified as a suspect less than two weeks after Ruiz’s death on June 16 and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Ruiz was found dead in her room by her father the next day after going out with her friends on a Friday night. She morning of the murder, everyone else went to work, leaving her alone in he house. Her father came home in the afternoon. Her door was closed and he assumed she was asleep. After he took a nap and a shower around 5 p.m. he noticed her door was open. He entered her room and found her dead inside. 

Grady was arrested with the help of the Las Vegas Fugitive Investigative Strike Team and is being held in Nevada, pending extradition for Ruiz’s murder.

Ruiz was killed by a single gunshot, according to SDPD.

It is unclear if Grady knew Ruiz.
