Make it 6! Toreros Win Another Conference Title

USD is going back to the FCS playoffs after blowout win

Winning is fun. The University of San Diego football program is having A LOT of fun.

USD ripped Morehead St. 52-20 on Saturday at Torero Stadium to win their 6th straight Pioneer Football League championship and earn another guaranteed spot in the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs. It's also their 36th straight conference win.

They have one more PFL game in a week at Jacksonville and even though that game means nothing for the post-season head coach Dale Lindsey is not about to let his guys take a week off.

"I think we've got a tougher opponent next week in Jacksonville. (They run) the triple option which is hard to get ready for," said Lindsey. "We're not interested in being 7-1 we're interested in being 8-0 for the fourth year in a row."

That's the expectation for this program now and it's 100% warranted. USD led 3-0 after the first quarter then took control of the game in a 4-play sequence. Quarterback Reid Sinnett hit wide receiver Michael Armstead for a 32-yard TD to make it 10-0. Just two plays later Hunter defensive back Hunter Nichols picked off a pass, one of four turnovers USD's defense forced.

On the very next play running back Jojo Binda Jr. ripped off a 50-yard TD run to make it 17-0. The Toreros scored 28 points in the 2nd quarter alone and built a 45-0 lead before going into cruise control.

Sinnett threw four touchdown passes, two of them to tight end Dalton Kincaid and the other to wideout Michael Bandy. Binda Jr. ran 16 times for 121 yards and two scores.

The Toreros have won playoff games before. This time around they might have the most complete team they've run with yet so an extended run is certainly not out of the question.
