Trouble for Local Varsity Athletes

A local private high school varsity baseball team has taken disciplinary action against a few varsity players for violating school rules.

Cathedral Catholic High School, filled with division one prospects and championship hopes, is on the national radar for baseball. The team is also ranked number one in the nation, according to some pre-season polls.

At least 7 players have Division I scholarship opportunities and one player was expected to be selected in the first round of the major league draft.

CCHS would not comment on specific students and released a statement this afternoon, saying in part:

β€œEach case was addressed on an individual basis and adhered to school policy and procedures….We feel it is important to note that, while Cathedral does abide by traditional Catholic values and morals, we do not have a "Zero Tolerance" policy in place.
The entire Dons community fully supports the CCHS baseball team as they finish their winning season and defend their CIF championship title.”

It is unknown at this time what prompted the disciplinary action.
