Live Nation Brings the Heat With New SD Shows

From spring through summer, stacked bills are heading your way

Live Nation’s at it again, bringing the storytelling, the booty-dropping and the side-splitting to San Diego from now through summer.

Is it a coincidence that Lil Wayne’s coming to SDSU’s Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre on Thursday, April 20? I think not. No better place to spend the stoner holiday than in America’s finest city.

Once Cal Coast is sufficiently fumigated, Latin-pop and R&B star, Prince Royce, brings the Bronx there on Sunday, July 9. Get tickets starting Friday, March 3, at 11 a.m.

While no longer a Maniac, Natalie Merchant is still crazy good, and she’s at Copley Symphony Hall on Tuesday, July 18. Tickets for this show go on sale Saturday, March 4, at 10 a.m.

Double the Martin, double the hilarity: Steve Martin and Martin Short bring comedy and music to Cal Coast on Saturday, Aug. 12, for An Evening You Will Forget.

Just a month later, on Tuesday, Sept. 12, go gaga for Goo Goo Dolls at Cal Coast. They’ll be celebrating the release of a new EP, “You Should Be Happy,” with Phillip Phillips on their Long Way Home tour.

Tickets for the above shows go on sale Friday, March 3, at 10 a.m. (unless otherwise noted) at And that’s why we’re happy to call them a sponsor.

Oh and by the way, no big deal, but Franz Ferdinand will be playing Oceanside Pier Amphitheatre on Sunday, June 11. Stay tuned for more details on that one.

Rutger Rosenborg was almost a Stanford neuroscientist before he formed Ed Ghost Tucker. He now plays in the Lulls and makes music on his own when he's not writing. Follow his updates on Facebook or contact him directly.
