Lincoln Park Death Launches SDPD Investigation

Officers found a 22-year-old man lying on the sidewalk with apparent trauma to his upper body

Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating any suspects responsible for a young man’s death in Lincoln Park Sunday night.

Crews with the San Diego Police Department and San Diego Fire-Rescue responded to a call that claimed a man was found injured on 47th Street at 11:11 p.m.

Police later identified the man as Gregory Ruffin Jr., 22.

Officers found Ruffin lying on the sidewalk with apparent trauma to his upper body, SDPD said.

Officers attempted life-saving measures but were unsuccessful. Ruffin was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities are trying to determine the circumstances that led to Ruffin’s death and if any possible suspects were responsible.

SDPD’s Homicide Unit will investigate.

Crime Stoppers is offering up to $1,000 to anyone with information that can lead to an arrest in this case.
