Lightning Strike Starts Vegetation Fire on Hot Springs Mountain

A lightning strike started a small vegetation fire near the top of Hot Springs Mountain in Warner Springs, according to Cal Fire.

The fire sparked at around 3:45 p.m. just below the popular Hot Springs lookout point. Cal Fire said the forward spread had been stopped at 2 acres just after 10 p.m.

Hand crews had trouble gaining access to the flames initially, Cal Fire said. Firefighters were able to keep the fire under control with air drops in the meantime.

Firefighters will remain at scene overnight and into the morning to complete containment.
