Let Me See My Mama

A speeding driver tried to invoke the Ryan Moats' defense Monday when she was finally stopped by police outside Sharp Chula Vista. Unlike the NFL player who really was rushing to a dying relative's bedside, officers weren't buying this woman's story and arrested her without letting her see her mother.

Officers started following Tawana Doyle, 25, as she was driving southbound on Interstate 805 around 8:30 a.m. Monday. Doyle's sports car was moving at speeds up to 110 mph, police said.

She took the L Street exit in Chula Vista and headed east on Telegraph Canyon Road, signaling that she had no intention of pulling over for the police tailing her, officers said.

Doyle finally stopped at the emergency room entrance at the hospital. According to police, Doyle's mother has been admitted to the hospital but it doesn't appear to be an emergency situation.

Officers arrested Doyle and took her to Las Colinas Detention Facility without allowing her to check on her mother's condition before leaving hospital grounds. She faces felony evading charges.

Officers offered up no details on the mother's condition or why she had been admitted to the hospital.
