Lakeside Man Accused of Multiple Bank Robberies

A 27-year-old Lakeside man was arrested as a result of a bank robbery investigation, FBI agent Keith Slotter said Wednesday.

Slotter said that Donald Lawrence Denny, age 27, of San Diego, was arrested on Monday at 6:00 p.m. by detectives from the El Cajon Police Department, San Diego Police Department, and FBI Agents near the vicinity of Toyne and Market Streets.

Denny was arrested without incident and booked into the San Diego County Jail, Slotter said.

On Wednesday, a complaint was filed in U.S. District Court, Southern District of California, charging Denny with two counts of bank robbery. Denny was charged specifically with the Oct. 10 robbery of the U.S. Bank at 2955 Alpine in the city of Alpine; and the Oct. 11 robbery of the U.S. Bank at 3681 Avocado Ave. in La Mesa.

Denny was arrested, Slotter said, as the result of investigations conducted under "The Hard Hat Bandit" bank robbery series, which began in September in El Cajon.
