Lakeside Restaurant Holds Fundraiser for “Hero” Girl Killed in Crash

A Lakeside restaurant is holding a fundraiser to solicit donations for the family of a 10-year-old girl killed when she pushed a toddler out of the way of a moving car.

Kiera Larsen died Feb. 22 as she was playing outside her home with friends. A Mercedes parked in a yard slid down the hill toward the group of kids, and Kiera shoved a 2-year-old out of its path, saving her, officers said.

The Lakeside Boll Weevil restaurant, 9741 Winter Gardens Blvd., was holding a fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday to "help support the family of this beautiful little hero," the restaurant said in a flier.

The restaurant said it was donating 20 percent of all sales to Kiera’s family.

In addition, the eatery is hosting an all-day raffle, with items such as gift certificates to a fishing boat excursion, restaurant gift cards, salon gift cards and hardware items.

A GoFundMe page set up by friends of Larsen’s family has also raised $93,541 as of Monday afternoon.
