Fiery Crash Closes Wildcat Canyon Road

CHP investigators need witnesses to come forward with information about the collision and the driver of the 1995 Ford Mustang

A fiery crash closed down Wildcat Canyon Road in both directions for two hours early Tuesday as California Highway Patrol officers try to determine what caused the single-vehicle crash.

A 1995 Ford Mustang was traveling southbound on Wildcat Canyon Road just before 3 a.m. when it veered off the road, overturned and caught fire, CHP officials said.

The Mustang was unoccupied when emergency personnel arrived to the scene.

CHP officials said there were reports made to firefighters that the Mustang may have been speeding or racing just before the crash.

Those reports have not been confirmed, CHP officers said.

They are asking the public to help to identify who was behind the wheel at the time of the collision.

Any possible witnesses may call the CHP El Cajon Area office at (619) 401-2000.
