Katia Lopez-Hodoyan

Katia Lopez-Hodoyan has lived in Italy, Jordan and Germany, but she's happy to call San Diego home.

Katia recently came back from Rome, where she worked for five years as foreign correspondent, covering stories for Telemundo Network. She covered everything from the election of Pope Francis to the terrorists attacks in Paris.

Katia also covered papal trips to Israel, Palestine, Jordan and Bosnia-Herzegovina.

To get an inside look at the refugee crisis and its effects on Europe, the Middle East and the U.S. Katia lived in a refugee camp in Jordan for an entire month.

Before heading to Rome, Katia worked as a general assignment reporter for KNSD. She was also a producer and reporter for its Spanish language station, 'Mi San Diego.' After graduating from the University of San Francisco, Katia worked as an assignment editor and writer for Univision San Diego (KBNT).

Katia is from the San Diego/Tijuana border region. She was raised and educated on both sides of the border. She speaks English, Spanish and Italian.

On her free time, she loves a good Bikram Yoga class!
