A road in Morley Field will be dedicated to a beloved North Park Little League coach this weekend during a special ceremony.
Joe Schloss, 88, coached baseball in San Diego for more than 60 years. He was a coach for the North Park Little League for 58 of those years.
On Saturday, the community will dedicate “Joe Schloss Way” to the longtime youth baseball coach.
Schloss passed away in November of last year following an illness.
He was a Navy veteran who served in the Pacific during World War II. Schloss coached his first team in 1956 and continued coaching until last year.
Last year, leaders from the City and County of San Diego dedicated May 16 as “Joe Schloss Day” during a special ceremony at Morley Field.
Members of the community, San Diego County Councilmember Todd Gloria and other leaders will gather at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 4.
The dedication ceremony will be held on Morley Field on Morley Field Drive.
