Jackie Crea joined NBC 7 in May 2019. This is a return home to Southern California after 8 years away in Texas and Colorado. This move also brings her career full circle as she started her first internship at NBC 7 in 2008. She also worked as a freelance writer and teleprompter operator.

Jackie graduated from UCSD in 2008, with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and a study abroad semester in Barcelona, Spain.

Her first TV job was at the NBC/CBS duopoly KTSM in El Paso, Texas. She covered immigration and military stories that included traveling with soldiers in a Blackhawk to a simulated Afghan village for immersion training. She also reported on a visit from President Obama at Fort Bliss.

After two years in El Paso, she then landed a job in Houston, TX at the CBS affiliate KHOU. There she covered historic flooding events, including tropical storm Bill. During the 2015 Memorial Day Floods, she and her photographer were stranded overnight on a highway with thousands of other people and continued to do live shots through the morning. She covered high profile legal cases and she was also able to report during the Super Bowl and Houston’s year-long preparation.

She spent three years reporting and anchoring for KHOU before moving to KMGH, the ABC affiliate in Denver, CO. There she covered severe weather, wildfires and enjoyed the beautiful outdoors. She was part of a team that won a National Murrow award for overall news excellence.

Jackie is from Los Angeles and her husband is a San Diego native. They are very happy to be close to family again.
