Fire at Multi-Million-Dollar Home in Rancho Santa Fe

Dozens of firefighters battled a fire at a multi-million-dollar home in a gated community in Rancho Santa Fe Sunday evening.

Rancho Santa Fe Fire Protection District crews responded to the fire at the two-story home around 8:20 p.m. on Spyglass Lane, near the Farms Golf Club in the Fairbanks Ranch area.

Crews put out the fire by 10:30 p.m. and said they were staying to clean up the property.

From a distance, NBC 7 crews could see heavy smoke and flames. Neighbors said at one point, the flames were shooting high into the air.

The home is 20,000 square feet, Deputy Chief Dave McQuead said. There were cleaning crews inside the home around the time the fire started. There were no injuries reported.

Several portions of the roof collapsed and there was significant damage to the house, McQuead added.

There were no other structures near the home. The fire did not pose a threat to any other structures, Rancho Santa Fe Fire told NBC 7.

The home was listed on Realtor.com as an 8-bedroom, 8-bathroom property that last was listed in 2013 for more than $18 million.

No residents were displaced by the fire, firefighters said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
