A San Diego man found dead Tuesday with at least one gunshot wound in Grantville, has been identified by the San Diego Police Department.
Officers responded to the area near Vandever Avenue and Holabird Street off of Mission Gorge Road for a report of shots fired just before 3 a.m.
A man was found on the ground with at least one gunshot wound, SDPD said. Medics attempted to revive the man but he was declared dead at the scene.
On Thursday, he was identified as Mario Bullard, 35, of San Diego.
SDPD has released a suspect description as a man, 5-feet, 6-inches tall wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a white logo on the front, black pants and wearing a backpack.
He was last seen running westbound on Vandever Avenue toward Mission Gorge Road, police said.
Just before 7 a.m., police said a man matching the description had been detained and was transported to SDPD Headquarters for questioning. After he was interviewed, he was released pending further investigation, officers said.

A neighbor told NBC 7 that just before police responded to the area, she heard several gunshots.
"I heard what sounded like maybe three gunshots go off just around the corner, or right outside the window actually," Kiersten Herron said.
Homicide investigators are looking for information leading to the motive behind the killing.
