A homicide investigation is underway at Kings Inn on Hotel Circle South in Mission Valley, San Diego Police (SDPD) officers confirmed.
Police said the call came in at 9:25 a.m. Sunday for the homicide at the 1300 block of Hotel Circle Drive, just south of Interstate 8.
A man in his 30s was found not breathing on the sidewalk, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of death is undetermined, but it appears the victim suffered trauma to his upper torso.
The San Diego Police Department Homicide Unit responded to the scene and is actively investigating the incident.
"We are looking at surveillance at this time, looking at surveillance at the adjacent hotel also," Lt. Ray Valentine with the SDPD Homicide Unit said. "We’ll be doing some witness checks also to see if we can come up with a timeline when this individual arrived at this scene and maybe get an idea of what happened."
The victim’s identity is not known at this time. The County Medical Examiner’s Office will assist in the investigation by performing an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
