‘Devastated': Woman Finds Home in Flames After Bizarre Road Rage Incident

"Devastated," the homeowner said, in tears. "This is my home. It's my home."

A Lakeside family is devastated after flames tore through a nearby business and spread to their home following a bizarre road rage incident.

The Solis Hair Studio and the home next to the salon burst into flames Saturday afternoon when a car involved in a road rage incident slammed into the business.

The driver reportedly lost control after trying to cut off a driver trying to exit on their way to the Sheriff's substation in Lakeside, Sheriff's officials said.

The car, trying to cut off the driver, slammed into the salon around 6:50 p.m., located at the intersection of Vine Street and Parkside Street in Lakeside.

Lavonne Krause lives at the home next to the destroyed salon. She said her son first heard the crash.

"My son was here asleep and he heard a loud crash and came out and saw a ball of fire under the car that hit the building," Krause said.

The building quickly caught fire. The blaze spread from the salon to Krause's home. Krause described how it felt to come home and see the flames.

"Devastated," she said, in tears. "This is my home. It's my home. I knew I wasn't gonna be able to be here."

Neighbors say a pregnant woman worked at the salon, and children are always playing in the area, making it that much more amazing that no one was seriously hurt.

"The girl who works here was excited about working here she could bring her new baby to the salon here, and that's not going to happen now," Krause said.

During this overwhelming moment in her life, Krause appreciates the support she has received from friends and family.

"I'm grateful, in a strange situation like this, I'm actually grateful," she said.

The road rage incident was believed to be connected to a subsequent pursuit. At this time, authorities do not believe the pursuit is connected
