Police are searching for the driver who took off after a crash in Lincoln Park that hurt three people on Independence Day.

A black Acura slammed into the side of a white Toyota SUV on Logan Avenue near S. 47th Street at about 9:40 p.m. Wednesday.

The driver of the Acura jumped out and ran off.

Medics arrived on scene and cut through the Toyota to rescue three people trapped inside the wreckage. All were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

A man who witnessed the crash said it sounded like the crash happened at a high rate of speed.

"That impact didn't sound like 20, 30 miles per hour it sounded louder than that. It sounded like a freeway hit," Jesus Laguna said.

Police have not yet located the driver of the Acura.
