Driver Sought in Hit-and-Run Found on Navy Ship: SDPD

A bizarre ending to a hit-and-run collision that flipped a vehicle onto its roof near Naval Base San Diego. Investigators say the suspect is a sailor, who was found, hiding on board a ship.

San Diego Police closed the intersection of Main and Vesta streets in Barrio Logan just after the crash occurred at 4 a.m.

Officers say a vehicle traveling westbound on Main was struck from behind by an Acura sedan.

After being rear-ended, the vehicle flipped over. The driver was taken to a nearby hospital with what appeared to be lacerations to his head and possibly a broken hand, officials said.

The other vehicle was found on the opposite side of the road with no driver inside.

It turns out, according to police, the as yet unidentified man ran onto the base.

A few hours later, he was found on board USS America, one of the Navy's newest amphibious assault ships.

The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Carlos Tejashun,  was arrested, and is now being processed by the San Diego Police Department.

The service member is facing felony hit and run, and DUI charges.
