A storm system moved across San Diego early Monday bringing with it cold temperatures and a frost advisory.
A small craft advisory was also issued by the National Weather Service because of an increase in winds associated with an oncoming storm.
Gusts were recorded from 21 mph in Oceanside to 30 mph in Julian, according to NBC 7 Meteorologist Jodi Kodesh.
“We’ve seen the worst of the wind already though it still will be quite gusty through 1 p.m.,” said Kodesh.
The National Weather Service issued a high surf advisory in effect until 2 p.m. Tuesday, warning of strong rip currents and dangerous swimming conditions south of Newport Beach. South of Del Mar, expect sets to reach as high as nine feet, with three to five feet elsewhere.
Low-lying coastal areas, like certain places in Cardiff-by-the-Sea, La Jolla Shores and Sunset Beach, may see minor coastal flooding during high tide.
A coastal flood advisory was also put into place by the National Weather Service until 2 p.m. Tuesday.

This week's cold snap had people bundling up and making changes to their homes Monday.
Thomas Kezas, the owner of Chim Chiminey Sweep in North County, has been responding to calls all day, helping people light up their fireplaces safely. Other chimney sweeps report the same high volume of calls.
"Now that we're getting into the season, the other important things are keeping your Christmas tree away because they become so ignitable at least three feet away," said Kezas. "The stocking should be taken off when they have a fire."
As you stay cozy in your home, don't forget what's outside enduring the cold: namely plants.
"When we get around 32 or just below 32, that's when you really have to pay attention to what your plants are doing," said Nan Sterman, a journalism with the TV program "A Growing Passion."
She recommends moving your sensitive plants close to the house, under the eve. If your plants are too big to move, Sterman recommended setting up PVC pipes around the area and covering them with spun paper fabric, which you can buy at local nurseries.
Both Sterman and Kezas noted that you shouldn't wait until it gets really cold to prepare; supplies often run out. If you hire a chimney sweep, make sure the person is certified, Kezas said.
