High Surf Slams into SD

If you have today off, and you like to surf ... it's a perfect day to hit up the beach

If you have Friday off from work, and you're an experienced surfer, it's a great time to hit up the beach.

National Weather Service issued a high surf advisory for Friday, saying waves could reach up to 12 feet.

The ideal wave height, paired with near-perfect weather, should make for a good day at the shore.

But the waves could also bring rip currents, and swimmers should be on the lookout for dangerous conditions.

Jetties and sea walls may get slammed with the incoming swell, and the Ocean Beach pier is susceptible to waves hitting the floor of the structure.

NWS also said in a statement that the entrance to Mission Bay from the ocean will be particularly hazardous.
