Help Capture McThieves, Get $1,000

A $1,000 reward was posted Thursday for information leading to the capture of four thieves who threatened workers and patrons at a San Carlos-area fast-food restaurant with a shotgun during a weekend robbery.

The bandits, three men and a woman, all of whom appeared to be in their 20s or early 30s, entered the McDonald's in the 8700 block of Lake Murray Boulevard with bandanas over their faces shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday, according to San Diego police.

One of them went from person to person with a bag, demanding that the victims put their wallets and cell phones inside, while his accomplices emptied the restaurant's cash registers, SDPD Sgt. Bob Dare said.

The robbers, who were wearing gloves and black or gray hooded jackets or sweat shirts, fled in a light-colored GM sport utility vehicle, Dare said.

Anyone with information about the robbery was asked to contact San Diego County Crime Stoppers, which is posting the reward. The nonprofit agency's anonymous tip number is (888) 580-8477. Callers may remain anonymous.
