More than 377,000 pounds of ground beef shipped to restaurants in California and Nevada have been recalled due to possible E. coli contamination, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced Tuesday.
The Los Angeles-based Commercial Meat Co. produced the meat between Sept. 7 and Oct. 6, according to the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service.
The meat recalled includes bulk ground beef, ground beef patties, ground beef taco and ground beef chili.
The possible contamination was discovered during routine testing.
No illnesses have been reported.
All of the packages have the establishment number "EST. 4873" inside the USDA inspection mark.
The USDA advises consumers to only consume ground beef that has been cooked to a temperature of 160° F. The only way to confirm that ground beef is cooked to a temperature high enough to kill harmful bacteria is to use a food thermometer that measures internal temperature.
