Glitch Sparks Low-Level Emergency at San Onofre

An unusual event caused a low-level emergency at the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station early Saturday morning, said officials.

A spokesman for the company, Gil Alexander said officials at the Southern California Edison declared an “unusual event” at the plant just after 6 a.m. when a computer that monitored gates and doors powered down.

After 45 minutes the computer glitch fixed itself, restarting without incident, according to officials.

Officials tested and monitored the system to make sure it was fixed before calling off the emergency and no one at the plant was at risk during the event, said Alexander.
