Free Summer Fun With a Library Card

The membership cards will be available starting Thursday, May 24

The same way you’d check out a book or a DVD from the library, you can now check out a family membership card to the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center in Balboa Park.

The new program allows San Diego area families to have access to the Fleet Center with a circulating membership card.  The cards are good for two full weeks and then go back to the library for the next family to check out.

The membership cards will be available starting Thursday, May 24 and can include up to two adults and six children under the age of 18. The card not only opens the door to the hands-on science galleries and traveling exhibits but also offers discounts on IMAX films, Galileo’s Café and the North Star Science Store.

The “Check It Out” program is sponsored by ScholarShare College Savings Plan. The cards are available at 36 city libraries. The program will be offered for the next two years, but library officials expect a waiting list for the cards.
