Report: Former Principal Arrested on Molestation Charges

A former staffer at several schools in the North County turned himself in to Oceanside Police in connection with a sexual abuse case involving a child, according to a published report.

Robert Melvin Goode Jr., 59, is wanted for sexual abuse of a juvenile under the age of 10 years, according to police. The abuse of the victim allegedly began when the child was 8 years of age and continued for the past 6 years. Officers said they were contacted by the alleged victim and parents.

Police asked citizens to be on the lookout for Goode Wednesday afternoon. He turned himself in to Oceanside police at about 6:40 p.m. Wednesday, according to the North County Times.   Goode was booked on felony charges.

Goode Jr. recently resigned from his post as a senior administrator at three North County schools, according to a statement from the Classical Academy organization. The schools include The Classical Academy in Escondido and the Classical Academy High School in Escondido , where he was the Chief Executive Officer.  He also worked at the Coastal Academy in Oceanside.  Goode was also the High School Principal at Tri-City Christian School in Vista between 1983 thru 1994.

A statement released Thursday from the Classical Academies said officials are "shocked" to learn about the allegations against Goode.  They said Goode abruptly announced his retirement from The Classical Academy organization on January 30 and is "no longer employed by nor affiliated with the schools."

"At this time we do not believe that the alleged victim and parents are affiliated with the Classical Academy organization in any way," the organization said.

They said they would appoint a third-party investigator to conduct an inquiry into his former employment.
