Former Marine Gets Life for Stabbing Pregnant Girlfriend

A former Marine who chased down his pregnant girlfriend and stabbed her to death in Orange County after their breakup has been sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Ahmad Siddiqi was sentenced Friday on a first-degree murder conviction.

Prosecutors say Siddiqi, who lived in Virginia, killed 24-year-old Soraya Faroqi outside her Westminster apartment building in December of 2011.

Authorities say the two had a long-distance relationship until Faroqi went overseas to serve as a civilian translator for U.S. troops in Afghanistan. They became engaged two months before her death but then broke up.

City News Service says when the estranged couple met in December to talk, Siddiqi learned that Faroqi was pregnant from an affair with an Army private. During their discussion he chased her outside and stabbed her.
