Driver Fleeing Deputies Hits Parked Cars in City Heights

A driver, attempting to evade deputies, slammed into a parked car in City Heights Tuesday night, San Diego police (SDPD) said.

The incident began just before 9 p.m. at Marlborough and Polk avenues.

Deputies with the San Diego County Sheriff's Department (SDSO) were doing a probation check in the area when the driver of a Ford F-150 tried to flee from deputies.

The driver lost control of the pickup truck trying to make a right turn onto 42nd Street and crashed head-on into three parked cars.

"It sounded kinda like a big bang, like just a really loud band. I didn't see the person running but I guess he ran afterward," said witness Andy Nguyen.

Nguyen said his grandfather's car was one of the three the driver slammed into and it's completely totaled.

Police said one man suffered a minor injury and was taken to a local hospital.

The driver of the pickup truck tried to flee on foot but he was taken into custody.

As of 11 p.m., 42nd Street was closed off.

No additional details were released.
