Fire Reported at Rancho Bernardo Nursery

The fire generated calls from worried residents who saw the smoke from a distance

A fire broke out early Tuesday at a nursery in Rancho Bernardo.

San Diego Fire-Rescue crews were called to Highland Valley Road just after 5 a.m. for a vegetation fire.

No structures were threatened by the fire and no injuries have been reported, SDFD spokesperson Capt. Joe Amador said.

The fire created a lot of smoke and generated calls from worried residents who saw the plume of smoke from a distance, Amador said.

The cause is under investigation.

SDFD officials said it appears to be a mulch fire.

No other information was immediately available.
