Fire Injures 1, Damages Units in Mira Mesa Apartment Complex

One woman was injured in an apartment fire in Mira Mesa Friday.

San Diego Fire-Rescue crews arrived to The Casa Apartments on Capricorn Way at 1:13 a.m.

Heavy smoke and fire could be seen coming from a first story apartment.

Crews were able to keep the fire from spreading to the second floor of the complex.

The tenant was able to escape thanks to a smoke alarm but she suffered smoke inhalation, fire officials said. She as transported to Sharp Hospital for treatment.

Several units were damaged by smoke, fire officials said.

The tenant living directly above the fire was being assisted by the San Diego chapter of the American Red Cross.

The cause is under investigation.
