Firefighters blame an electrical short in an air-conditioning and heating unit for a fire at a hotel in Mission Valley Monday night.
When the San Diego fire crews got to the Days Hotel on Hotel Circle South around 8:30 p.m. they saw a room filled with smoke.
It was a minimal fire inside the unit of the three-story hotel according to Battalion Chief John Fisher.
The unit did not have sprinklers because it was below the height requirement for sprinklers.
No one was inside the room and no one was hurt.
Some customers were moved so that firefighters could get to the affected unit but they were soon returned to their rooms Fisher said.
