The San Diego County medical examiner's office has not yet identified the man who drowned in Mission Bay Monday.
The incident happened around 2:45 p.m. on Fiesta Island, according to San Diego Fire-Rescue.
A witness called 911 and reported the man had gone under water but hadn’t resurfaced.
Lifeguards pulled the man to shore but his heart had already stopped.
He was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
Emergency personnel told NBC 7 the victim was in his 50's and visiting San Diego from China.
