A semi-truck rolled 300-feet down a hill Tuesday morning, injuring the 28-year-old driver and his 1-year-old son, according to officials.
The accident happened at 6:15 a.m. in the 500-block of Montezuma Valley Road in Borrego Springs.
The California Highway Patrol said the man took a curve too fast, overturned and plunged down the hill.
Crews from Cal Fire and Borrego Springs Fire Protection District had to use a rope to hoist the victims to safety. The rescue took several hours because of the steep, rocky terrain.
The tractor trailer was carrying wood chips, so debris was also an issue.
A helicopter flew the man and his son to Riverside General Hospital. The boy had a broken leg, and the man had minor injuries, according to the CHP.
CHP issued a Sig Alert after the accident happened. Montezuma Valley Road is expected to remain closed into Tuesday night.

Officials do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. It appears both the man and the boy were properly restrained, according to CHP.
